Jolly hockey sticks

... which is really all that need be said. Georgie is playing for Tulse Hill and Dulwich this season, and was off down to Guildford for a game this morning.
Hockey one, hockey two.... but she's not really that mean.She needed to recover after a tough week at work, like the three hours she spent in the Birmingham studio of radio station Kerrang this week, discussing with their 1.6 million listeners the merits of streaming Zone Media horror TV shows straight to your cellphone, and Archimedian physics: whether the left breast of Lea Walker from Big Brother would displace more water from a bucket than the host's head.
LeaGeorgie and TanyaArchimedes would be proud.Of course, Georgie just didn't want to be left out after I'd been invited to a Z-list party at RubyBlue in Leicester Square, the previous Thursday. It was hosted by Sam Heuston, from last year's Big Brother, who had been distinguished by very similar attributes to Lea this year.

In other news, I'm now full-time at Times Educational Supplement (www.tes.co.uk) though the Sunday Times is still running some features, including one last week on placing a value on human life, and a few in the previous weeks (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13).

My life is feeling a little more relaxed at present, working far more reasonable work hours at TES despite having to often duck across to Sunday Times in evenings to deal with subs on features, etc. TES has a surprising and delightful approach to contact-building: instead of just paying lip service to meeting contacts for coffee, they expect you to take contacts out for lunch on Thursday and Fridays, and will reimburse £80 to £120 per lunch.

Weather a bit miserable, as winter looms - a barbecue with friends in NE London at the weekend was forced indoors (my contribution: marinated grilled haloumi, chilli and garlic king prawns, and herb-stuffed sea bass). But I felt a lot better about the London rain at the weekend after reading about the Wellington Labour Weekend weather.
